Do you know about the Discourse Analysis?


Discourse analysis means point of view and ideology

During lesson, Mr Mark has given us an article, "So Long Old Friend!". The article is about teenagers, smoking habit and cigarette. It is obviously cool because the author is Mr Mark himself. There are many euphemistic language examples that can be found in the article, for example, blue capos (the prefect of school), euphoria (weird), mischievous (naughty boys), john (the toilet) and Pak Mansur (the Prime Minister). Logically thinking, i never thought that the 'John' is actually referred to toilet and blue capos is prefect. At that time, we has given a task by Mr Mark to identify the thematic words and phrases, point of view and ideology based on the article given. Some of the examples that can be found are;
